LeEco Le Max Vs QiKU Q Terra Smartphone Comparison

This year Indian smartphone market has seen a lot of heat in its first month with the launch of Lenovo K4 Note, Le Max, Le 1S and recently launched dedicated camera smartphone, the Asus Zenfone Zoom. Now the month isn’t finished yet, and there are still two smartphone launches scheduled ahead this week; Oppo F1 and Honor 5X, which we would be covering live if you wondered. But what’s more, interesting is that the comparison we are going to talk about. It is between the LeEco Le Max and QiKU Terra 808 smartphone, the fight for phablet king. Based on six important aspects, we would be comparing these two phablet contenders. Let’s dive in, shall we.

Design
QiKU Q Terra 808 - Featured
The Le Max is your all metal handset with stunning design language, even for an oversized handset, which is termed as the phablet. Such is the case with QiKU Q Terra 808 handset; it has a full metal build and design so attractive that would shame some high-end smartphones quite quickly. But when it comes to compactness, the QiKU handset is far better than LeEco handset. It’s because of 8.6mm thickness over 8.9mm while it also weighs less at 185 grams against 204 grams. Now it isn’t the long gaps but, there should be some compactness in a device if it’s marked as a smartphone but not a tablet. Wouldn’t you agree on that? Moreover, they both have the bezel-less design and almost look similar as well. So, what you should worry about is whether you can pick up a call using your one hand if that’s what you prefer. And I would say Terra 808 offers that but not the Le Max smartphone.

Display

The display can be a real deal breaker for consumers who are picky about their handsets, and I would easily say I lie in that category. The 6.3-inch display with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution on Le Max is definitely an incredible screen that can radically change the experiences like playing games, watching high-resolution videos, etc. On the other hand, the Q Terra has a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution display with a real estate of 6-inch. According to the design perspective, the screen size on QiKU is better, but we are not talking about the design anymore are we. The pixel density of Q Terra is 386 PPI (Pixel Per Inch) while that is nothing against 466 PPI on the Le Max.

If you like the number’s game, then you can go with LeEco handset, but if you don’t it doesn’t matter, both offers good qualities and have the same LCD technology used to bring the display to life. If only one of them could offer an AMOLED display, then that would be a clear winner, Full HD is as good as 2K Display, as not many in India would stream a 2K content on their handset. It’s just practical.

Software

This is where the real life usage matters, the user interface; both the handsets have their customized interfaces based on the Android Lollipop OS. The LeEco comes with EUI 5.5 that is said to be top of the line interface as claimed by the company but that’s not really we experienced while using the device as our daily driver. It sure is a smooth performer, but not good in multitasking, which is to say it lacks intuitiveness. Whereas on the other hand, the 360 OS developed by 360 Total Security is everything you could ask for on a custom interface. It’s smooth and easy on multitasking between the apps. Both offers good functionality, somewhat to a similar extent, but 360 OS is the winner in my experience here.

Hardware & Performance

In this aspect beating Le Max is almost impossible as it comes powered with Snapdragon 810, which is currently the most powerful processor on the market right now, as the first handset with SD 820 is yet to be launched. While on the other hand, Q Terra is powered by a Snapdragon 808 chipset, which is underpowered by two cores when compared to 810. Moreover, it is coupled with 3GB RAM whereas the LeEco handset has a massive 4GB of RAM supporting the processing power.

We played out with both handsets to test how good are the performance on these handsets; they both have impressive processing powers, but it’s hands down when it comes to playing heavy graphics games. Although QiKU can still manage the gaming, but it won’t be able to handle five heavy games installed at a time, since it comes with 16GB storage, while 64GB storage space is standard on the Le Max. So, imagine that. This round goes to the LeEco Le Max smartphone as it is literally a giant beast.

Camera

This is where the competition is most tough; on one side we have Le Max with 21-megapixel Sony Exmor IMX230 sensor while on second side we have a Duoscopic setup of 13-megapixel image sensors, which is also the Sony sensor, but the different one. The IMX278 on QiKU is something of an achiever regarding the color and mono details, with two of the same thing, it’s double the power, so we did had a fun clicking photos with this module. It was sharp, precise and balanced regarding contrast. Moreover, it has an aperture of f/1.8, which is quite better than the f/2.0 on the Le Max. But nonetheless, the outputs on the Le Max was stunning as well, in fact, it is also good in low light captures. Come to think of it, this is a tie here since both the camera offerings are equally impressive. It doesn’t depend on the resolution; it’s all about the camera outputs. Head over to the respective reviews of the devices on our website to see the camera samples.

Battery

The battery capacity on Le Max is relatively low considering it has a 2K Display and not so power efficient processor to fuel. But with 3400mAh it manages good battery life, say thanks to the app management. While the battery capacity on the Q Terra is just brilliant at 3700mAh, you can do a lot of gaming and media watching on the QiKU smartphones and still get away with good battery life. It has no 2K display and power hungry processors to serve, which is a quite favorable condition. But moreover, it has a good power management system set by 360 OS, which identifies apps that are used in intervals and ask you to freeze them until you require them. Now that’s a very smart move, wouldn’t you say!

Verdict

Who should be crowned the phablet king? Let’s see, Le Max has a stunning display, excellent performance, and impressive camera package while the Q Terra also poses equally interesting camera setup. If you’re looking for a good performer with massive storage options, then Le Max is an ideal choice, but if you want a large real estate but don’t want the feeling of holding a tablet in one hand, then QiKU handset is the (I don’t believe I’m saying this) most compact phablet, meaning its ergonomics are perfect to fit in your palm. Meanwhile, Q Terra will fetch you quite less money than Le Max. Now you decide what is it you’re looking for in your next handset.
