Last week we reported that OPPO planned on launching a smartphone in India featuring a 16-megapixel selfie camera. While details were scarce, the specifications we came across matched those of the OPPO R9 smartphone. This smartphone was unveiled in China last month, but is likely to be launched as the F1 Plus in India. The launch event kicks off at 11:30AM, and here’s everything you need to know about the OPPO F1 Plus.
The smartphone OPPO is launching later today is targeted at the selfie-conscious audience, and its highlight is the 16-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture up front. It is also set to feature a metal unibody design, fingerprint scanner, 4GB of RAM, and a battery with OPPO’s own VOCC battery charging technology.

OPPO F1 Plus specifications, features: As it is just a renamed OPPO R9, the smartphone launching today features a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, MediaTek’s Helio P10 octa-core chipset, and 64GB internal storage, along with a microSD card slot to further expand the storage up to 128GB.
It also features a 13-megapixel f/2.2 rear camera, and a 2,850mAh battery with VOOC Flash Charge feature. However, it’s not the Super VOOC charging that OPPO demonstrated at MWC 2016. Connectivity options include dual SIM card slots, 4G LTE support, and on the software front, it runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
OPPO launched the R9 in China for CNY 2,799, which is approximately Rs 29,300. We will have to wait and see the smartphone’s price tag in India. OPPO also launched the R9 Plus in China last month featuring a 6-inch display, and it will be interesting to see if the phablet too makes it to India today.
