Motorola has finally revealed the first new smartphones for its 2016 line-up by announcing the fourth generation of its popular budget handset, the Moto G. The company has brought two variants to the table this year, the G4 and the G4 Plus. The name would suggest the G4 Plus being a larger device however both the handsets have a similar looking design and form factor.

The Moto G4 Plus is launched at a price starting at Rs 13,499 for the 16GB variant (2GB RAM) and Rs 14,999 for the 32GB variant (3GB RAM). It will be available exclusively via Amazon starting tonight. The company hasn’t disclosed the pricing or availability details of the Moto G4 yet. Motorola started adding variants last year when we saw three versions of the Moto X (Play, Style, Force) as well as the Moto G (1GB, 2GB, Turbo) and its seems that the company is going to stick with the strategy.

The Moto G4 Plus features a 5.5-inch full HD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. At the back there is a 16MP camera with a fast auto-focus system and F/2.2 aperture and an LED flash and a front 5MP camera to take selfies. Inside there is a new Snapdragon 617 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz and Adreno 405. There is a 16GB storage variant and a 32GB variant with 2GB and 3GB of RAM respectively. The G4 Plus also features a fingerprint sensor under the display, making it the first smartphone from the brand to finally get this feature. On the battery front, one can expect a 3,000 mAH battery.

The G4 also features a 5.5-inch display with a 1080p resolution and Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It gets pretty much the same hardware including the Snapdragon 617 processor and 2GB of RAM with 16GB of storage. The G4 however misses out on the fingerprint sensor and also packs in a 13MP camera instead of the 16MP unit on the G4 Plus. The camera has been enhanced to handle low lighting conditions better. Watch out the space for our first impressions of the G4 Plus.
